Oxfam in Nepal's Climate and Water program is focused on securing equitable, sustainable, and climate-adaptive systems (water-land-food) and resilient livelihoods across Nepal’s diverse landscapes. We strengthen WASH utilities, advance accountable and inclusive water governance, and safeguard watersheds and river basins through integrated landscape approaches that restore ecosystems and enhance long-term water security amidst growing climate vulnerabilities.
Our integrated climate work supports communities, local governments, farmers, women, youth groups and marginalised producer groups to adapt to shifting rainfall patterns, heat stress, drying springs, and ecosystem degradation by promoting nature-based solutions, climate-resilient land and water management, and improved seed systems that help farmers cope with climate variability. By embedding climate considerations into planning, design, financing, and governance and by empowering women, youth, farmers, and marginalized groups we ensure that decisions reflect community priorities.
Through transboundary cooperation, climate-informed watershed management, strengthened seed and farming practices, and long-term adaptation pathways, the portfolio builds a holistic system where resilient ecosystems, resilient institutions, and resilient water and agricultural systems reinforce one another to deliver inclusive water justice, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods for all.
