A recent report from the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) found that six of the ten countries with the most number of deaths from disasters between 1996 and 2015 come from Asia. An Asian Development Bank report found that, over a twenty-year period, Asia lost $53B annually to disasters.
