Oxfam in Nepal's Annual Report 2023-2024, and the stories it contains, showcase the breadth and depth of our efforts under three interconnected thematic areas – Gender Justice, Resilience and Climate Justice, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Water Governance.
In 2023-2024, we worked towards strengthening the resilience of women farmers in the face of climate-induced disasters, enabling them to secure their livelihoods and ensure food security for their families. We strived to empower women and marginalized groups, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld, whether it is through promoting gender equality in governance, or supporting women-led enterprises.
We upheld our commitment to providing life-saving assistance during emergencies, ensuring that the most vulnerable receive the support they need to rebuild their lives. Oxfam had quickly mobilized a team for initial assessment within a couple of days of the November 2023 earthquake in western Nepal. The assessment had helped in directing our efforts where needed.
Likewise, we focused on strengthening governance in WASH and water resource management while ensuring accountability and addressing inequitable water distribution, which is worsened by climate change.
