Water is the most abundant and important natural resource in Nepal. Annually, 225 billion cubic metres of water is fed by springs and streams, while an estimated 13 billion cubic metres infiltrate the ground through recharge (2022 Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CARE) for South Asia / Asian Disaster Preparedness Center). Despite this immense water potential, Nepal faces a crisis in water allocation for daily use.

It is focused on basin management and river resilience for effective resource protection, management, and utilization of basin and river resources.
